Music Education

Yuan Peng, born and raised in China, grew up highly involved in music. On her 7th birthday, Her father bought a music box for her as a birthday present.  The moment the melody floated out, she became enchanted by the sound and begged her parents let her to take piano lessons. Her family lived in a small town, but found a great teacher in the capital of the province, 160 miles away. So her journey to the piano began. 

At age of 13, she passed the piano test (The Music Examination Committee of the Chinese Musicians' Association) for National Level 10 in China, and she traveled to many cities from Hunan Province to Beijing to perform. She earned many awards at the regional level. At age of 16, she came to the United States with her family and continued studying music. She studied the piano at New England Conservatory Preparatory School with Qing Jiang. And she also studied with Katherine Chi. During her high school years, she performed several recitals in Boston area and local community. 

As a student of Rieko Aizawa and Leslie Amper, Ms. Peng earned her Undergraduate Diploma from Longy School of Music of Bard College and Bachelor of Music from Emerson College. She was majoring in piano performance and she received Longy Scholarship and academic honors during her undergraduate. Ms. Peng received her master degree in music in 2020, majoring in music education. Ms. Peng actively participated in chamber music such as piano trio and music festivals such as Walnut Hill Music Festival.

During Yuan's school year, in her spare time, she loves to teach the young children how to play the piano, and she says that's her passion. She has been teaching the piano for seven years. She is patient and beginners are never intimidated with the way she teach because she knows where they are coming from. Ms. Peng is the member of MTNA, NGPT and Boston Chinese Musicians Association.
