Yuan Peng, born and raised in China, grew up highly involved in music. Her family lived in a small town, but found a great teacher in the capital of the province, 160 miles away. So her journey to the piano began.

At age of 13, she passed the piano test (The Music Examination Committee of the Chinese Musicians' Association) for National Level 10 in China, and she traveled to many cities from Hunan Province to Beijing to perform. She earned many awards at the regional level. At age of 16, she came to the United States with her family and continued studying music. She studied the piano at New England Conservatory Preparatory School with Qing Jiang. And she also studied with Katherine Chi. As a student of Rieko Aizawa and Leslie Amper, Ms. Peng earned her Undergraduate Diploma from Longy School of Music of Bard College and Bachelor of Music from Emerson College.
